In Renaissance times, painters and sculptors had patrons – princes, counts, bishops and bankers – who financed the production of art, invested in it, and played an essential role in development of the visual arts in the 15^th and 16^th centuries. They encouraged and supported artists like Leonardo da Vinci, Sandro Botticelli and Rafael Sanzio, enabling them to dedicate their time exclusively to creation of art in palaces, cities and churches. It was in this period, for example, that Michelangelo created the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel.

We have taken inspiration from this period of history, and created autentik wall. To enjoy this privilege today, clearly you do not need to be a rich patron like those of the Renaissance: we have taken this timeless concept and adapted it to today’s society, to enable you to share the experience of creation directly with a Brazilian artist.

As we have said here, we believe that art exists to be felt, with the heart. Clearly this does not mean that you cannot (or should not!) understand it. Since a work of art touches each one of us – each human being – in a unique way, it is almost impossible to explain what each element of a canvas, for example, means on a rational level. A brushstroke the artist painted while feeling melancholy might cause you joy or euphoria – while at the same time it might make a colleague feel gloom or despair. That is the magic of art!

We believe that comprehending the history, the context, the references and the analogies of the world of art both past and present helps in understanding and feeling each work of art in particular. We are the world’s only bilingual platform making Brazilian artworks available to the world. We select the best Brazilian artists, or artists working in Brazil, for you wherever you are. Our team of curators and art critics is responsible for choosing and inviting new Brazilian artists to our platform. They assess the work of other artists who come to us, and they make the choice to approve or decline which artists join our network.

The selection of artists responds to a variety of criteria: primarily, their professional career; their activity and involvement in culture, in Brazil and the rest of the world; coherence in their type of work; and consistency in its production. All of the artists on the autentikart platform have built their names in the Brazilian artistic context; and they are the major choices of our specialists in investment in art, in terms of the potential for their work to gain in value.  

We are pioneers in offering not only this attention and support by curators of art, but also content contributing to knowledge, education and experience of the overall context of art as a whole – its history, tendencies, events, leaders and personalities. This is because each one of the artists has their own portfolio page on the platform. This page not only shows their works, but also offers a text about their approach and achievements, putting their work in context, empowering the purchaser or collector with a fuller understanding of the artist’s relationship to the overall universe of art. These articles, written by our team of curators, describe in what way the artist’s work may have any relationship to, or influence from, analogous movements in the history of art; provide information about the artist’s career; and include the artist’s own words describing their motivation, philosophy and inspiration – enabling you, the ‘consumer/investor’, to dive a little deeper into the universe of who these creators are and where they come from.

Your interest helps the artist to receive more financial compensation for her/his work. The commission that autentikart practices is significantly lower than ratios applied in the traditional art market. In this new structure, the artist now becomes, for the first time, the agent that is given the most value in a chain which has in the past tended to reduce that value. In this new system the artist her/himself now receives the greatest proportion of the value of their work: an amount that is fair, for the artist’s unique work of creation.

What you see is what you pay. We add no extra costs, for example, for delivery or freight, in your purchase (with some rare exceptions such as, for example, very large sculptures). autentikart has formed commercial partnerships with national and international logistics companies, and as a result is able to pass on these transport discounts to its consumers.

You will receive a Certificate of Authenticity for the work that you acquire. All the works we sell are accompanied by a certificate signed by the artist her/himself, and by autentikart, attesting that the work is the artist’s own original.

Payments are made through well-known channels such as PayPal or any worldwide credit cards. These companies are responsible for acceptance, transmission and settlement of all transactions via credit card, bank debit or bank transfer. You make the payment for your work through one of these companies, and they are responsible for the money reaching us. PayPal and all the credit cards have security policies which ensure that no one other than yourself will have any access to or visibility of your personal or bank information.

We guarantee your work can be exchanged or returned. At any time within seven days from receiving the delivery you can cancel your purchase, without giving any reason. It can also be exchanged. Read more on our terms of use.

how to buy: step-by-step

After you have selected a work, we recommend the following: 

 1.    Check that the size of the work fits the space where you will put it in your home or office. The zoom function will show you the details of the work. If you have any doubts on size, contact us at autentikart@autentikart.com.

2.    The works are delivered straight from the artist’s studio to you. Note the proposed form of transport: it might be a strong tube, a package, a box, etc. This information is always given beside each work, in the right-hand column, on the last line below the work’s technical specifications. When sent in a tube, a canvas is rolled up, and it is a normal task for a framer in your district to stretch it again. Some smaller canvases are already stretched, and you will receive these already mounted. Works on canvas are only infrequently delivered in an external frame. Works on paper can be sent in a strong tube or package, depending on their features and size. All works are properly protected and packaged to reach you completely intact!

3.    Take into account that all charges for freight are included in the great majority of our online collection (whenever there is an extra charge for freight/delivery, we state this on the right-hand side of the work, on your screen). We work with the most respected transport companies in the Brazilian and international markets, and it is through the major partnerships we have established with these logistics companies that we are able to pass on these discounts for transport cost to the client. A few works – such as large sculptures – exceed the weight or size limits that our transport partners normally deal with. In these cases, to complete your purchase, we will contact you to arrange the optimum cost-benefit for delivery.

4.    After reading the above – please fill out the short form to give us your details, before including the means of payment. You are very important to us, and we want to have your basic information, to be able to serve you better. We guarantee absolute confidentiality for your details.

5.    Check that the address details for delivery are correct. Choose your preferred form of payment, and complete the purchase. You will immediately receive an email from autentikart confirming the transaction.

6.    We specify a delivery period of between 10 and 15 days to all the states of Brazil, and between two weeks and 20 days for addresses in the rest of the world.

7.     If the purchaser wants to exchange a work or return it, we must be contacted within a maximum of seven days after the customer receives it. autentikart will pay the costs of delivery and return, and repay the entire amount paid by the purchaser.
