The seduction and mystery of the feminine body, represented by strong and powerful forms, however with its delicate aura preserved. The woman, the earth, and nature with its flowers and fruits, in Dhi Ferreira’s perspective, are one single thing: the same construct unfolding, communicating with one another in a dreamlike space, where the creation itself becomes the only purely libertarian act. Ferreira’s poetic artworks represent the beauty of the quotidian, which travels between reality and fantasy, full of elements that are part of the world of dreams and reveries.

Ferreira does not express himself in an intellectual way. Rather, he seeks communication through emotion, unconditioned by cultural, philosophical, or ideological knowledge. The art that comes to life through the painter’s hands reaches a vital expressiveness. "The feminine is, to me, a universe of indecipherable and distant actions and emotions. Mother, lover, friend, partner…a woman is much more than this and far beyond the roles society wants her to play. Through the images, I create imaginary paths made by colors and forms, which help me to penetrate in the feminine essence and, certainly, consecrate it”, reflects the artist on the central figure of his work.

Ferreira’s nude is serene but far from being cold or morbid. The painter seems to dissect the human being that he wants to represent, analyzing not only the aesthetic traits that characterize the individual but, especially, the psychological and spiritual aspects.

Shapes and colors are in perfect balance, one bringing strength to the other. The colors are in a constant search for light and dark. The artist’s palette is rich in degradations, with chromatic combinations that not always adhere to reality, yet always evoke great precision. Ferreira’s incursions in German Expressionism and Picasso's Cubism are perceptible. Although, it is from the Russian painter Marc Chagall---one of the most important names of Surrealism---that the work of Dhi Ferreira refers to, fundamentally regarding the dream background that reflects his emotional and affective roots.

Dhi Ferreira was born in 1966 in Curitiba, Paraná. He is a self-taught artist who has focused on graphic arts creation since 1981, and to the plastic arts since 1987. In 1991, he presented his first individual exhibition entitled "Sensuality and Submission". In the same year, he left Brazil to live for 15 years in Rome, Italy. In the cradle of Western culture, and while breathing art created by great artists of history, he was able to deepen in techniques and languages, ?having the masters of the universal painting as references. There, he worked with art restoration and made several exhibitions.

Ferreira is a multidisciplinary artist. In addition to painting, he is passionate about the performing arts: He has worked behind the scenes and has also starred on television and in the theater. Nowadays, besides the plastic arts, he develops restoration activities in Brazil and in Europe. "My inspiration comes from the desire of expressing myself through painting and, of course, through the influences that we face as we live art in general. I have always focused on creating a work of pure concept and expression, trying to maintain, spontaneously, a language of my own,” explains the artist.

He has had solo and collective exhibitions and participated in art salons in Brazil, Italy and Holland. Dhi Ferreira finds the best definition of art in the words of the renowned Brazilian writer Ferreira Gullar: "Art exists because life is not enough".
